Traded in my 2015 Outlander Sport because of issues (all documented from the dealer) for a 2015 Lancer. Today with a total of 863 total miles on the car, the car lurched into oncoming traffic while stopped. Engine stalled, engine light came on. RPM at idle between 1,400 and 2,000 rpm, when stopped RPM jumps to 3,000 RPM and lurches forward. Engine code points to variable timing issue, dealer reset system. One mile after getting the car back, engine light comes on at stop, lurches again on to oncoming traffic.
After the past two Mitsubishi vehicles, I have lost all faith in the brand. I have emailed Corporate also.
My nice brand new two-week old car is currently sitting in the shop for the second time in 24 hours. I am not worried to drive this car for any distance more than 15 miles from my house.
Update from Oct 5, 2015: After 18 days in the shop, multiple call and data pulls between tech support and the dealer it was determined that both oil control valves, oil sensor, and ECU re-flash were required. I received a letter from Mitsubishi Corporate stating they believe that there was either metal left in the block from the manufacturing process that caused the oil control valves to clog, or the control valves were defective.
So far the car runs like normal, but RPM's are constantly fluctuating between 500-700 RPM when stopped at idle in gear.
