So the SRS warning light comes on in my car, so I make an appointment with my mechanic to get the code checked a couple of weeks later. He ends up getting a code he isn't comfortable with dealing with (great guy, but hasn't doesn't work much on the electrical systems in Mistubishis, and doesn't have the proper code software to cover all of Mistubishi's codes). Its the driver's side airbag that is the problem, he suspects its a sensor, and does know that until its fixed the airbag will not deploy if I am in an accident. Great, so I have to get this fixed right away.

I take it to my old mechanic that serviced it before I moved about 4 hours away (I trust him and he has the ability to work on the electrical system no matter the make and model). They check do a code check. Yep its the sensor. The one that determines where you are sitting, or if anyone is sitting in the seat so it can decided whether or not to deploy the airbag, and at what force. It won't deploy if there is a wreck, so good thing I brought it in! No idea why it failed, it came out of the blue. They didn't find any damage under the seat, or any other issues. No worries though, they can just replace it. They hadn't come across this yet in this model, but its not unheard of to have a bad sensor at all. Easy fix right?

Except, Mitsubishi is apparently ridiculous. They have designed their seat track for their Lancer's (I don't konw if it is just my year, or all) so you cannot just replace the sensor, you have to replace the entire freaking seat track. It isn't separable from it in any way. Cost for the part? $1300, and you of course can only get it from Mistubishi!

Have to say this brand has soured on me really fast. The fixes on this thing have been ridiculously expensive part wise, and the problems have been weird ones. 4 months into a payment plan on $3000 worth of repairs at this point, and I am starting to feel like this thing was built to fail at 90k.
