Timing belt and values for the Mitsubishi Galants need to be looked over to see if it's a recall problem because mine went out on me, and also I know of another person with a Mitsubishi Galant had the same thing happen to them.

While driving the vehicle at an undetermined speed, the check engine light appeared on the dash then the vehicle stalled. This caused the driver to drift off the road. The consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The mechanic informed the owner that the oil pump had failed.
