As long as I have owned this vehicle, I have had a problem with the whole car shaking when I step on the brakes. I took it back to my dealer in Oct 1999 and they turned the rotars but the problem continued. I just recently had to have it in because the battery failed and had them check out the brakes while I was there and they said I need a complete brake job. I ask the service manager to check to see if they had been done before and he found they had. He said he would turn the rotars again but I was responsible for the brake pads. The brakes were really tight when I got the car back last week, but now they seem to be getting back where they were. This car is only two years old and already had to have the battery replaced and the brakes. I feel the dealer should have changed the brake pads at no cost to me. After reading all the complaints about these cars the majority are about the brakes.
While driving at a high speed and stepping on brake pedal will feel brake rotors pulsating and vibration in steering wheel. Brakes pads and rotors had been replaced a 1000 miles.
Upon breaking from both low and highway speeds, tremendous vibration in the steering column and brake pedal. Have had brakes checked by 3 different dealers on numerous occassions, the last time requiring replacement of the rotors and prblem still exists/returned. Also, while driving at slow speed (less than 15 miles/hours) the transmission failed without any indication requiring a total replacement just barely past mfg warranty exppired.

While driving about any speed could step on brake pedal and brakes will vibrate. Also, steering wheel will vibrate, causing loss of control. Vehicle has been repaired 5 times for the continuous brake problem.
The brakes vibrate and shimmy. They start to squeal. We have had the car back 4 times and every time its the same thing. I am afraid they will just go out alltogether.
Front rotors were getting red hot and cracking the brake pads, even though the pads were not worn down. This caused poor brake performance. Consumer was taking vehicle back to dealer about every 2 months to get pads replaced.
We have been back to the dealer numerous times with our problems. They seem to do a quick fix but in a short time the problems return. We were told by a Mitsubishi representative that al the problems were in the way we drive.

When consumer applies brakes vehicle shakes. Also, radiator was leaking and vehicle stalling. Consumer was traveling about 40mph in traffic and someone had cut in frontof consumer's vehicle. When she applied brakes vehicle started to shaking out of control and consumer lost control and hit the vehicle in front of her.
When making a normal stop pedal went to the floor and there was no braking ability, causing vehicle to proceed through an intersection. This happened without any type of warning. Vehicle was towed to the dealership, where the master brake cylinder was replaced. Owner was still experiencing problems with the ABS.
Problems with the vehicle started two days after purchase, they rotated the rotors on the brakes. Since that time I have had the vehicle back seven different occasions. They have replaced the rotors, rotated, you name it and it is still not corrected. I have a three year old daughter that I am scared to death to ride in the car. The dealer has been unresponsive and extremely nasty to us. The owner of the dealer hung up on my wife yesterday. The service manager screamed at me today, and said we have done all we can. They won't return phone calls. I have contacted corporate Mitsubishi and they say they will work on the problem. I just completed the paper work for the lemon laws in Maryland. I need help with making sure no one else buys a lemon from the dealer, and they don't stand behind their cars. Please assist me, in anyway you can. Thank you in advance for your time.
When traveling & upon depressing the brake pedal to make a normal or graudal stop consumer noticed the pedal vibrated, resulting in extended stopping distance. Problem was intermittent. This is not an ABS.
