Consumer recieved recall 99V066002, upon inspection of recall, dealer found damage to the passenger ball joint but would not repair this part because the boot was not cut, consumer wants dealer to do the repair at no cost.
8/9/33 toke car in for recall on lower ball joint inspection. Dealer no damage seen. But noticed the lower ball needed to replace we trusted them.but we started to here clunking noise on left front toke it back on 10/06/99 they claimed they test drove the car and checked the sups all looked good at time. On 10/25/00 after a 1000 mile trip I took my car in for tire rotation bal. Thay came back and told me my bolt on my let control arm was loose they tightened it for me. But iamm worried with 15000 miles since we had this done there is some ware. The dealer said they will look at it. But theywill say it needs to replaced. The then that bother me is that the control arm could of droped and caused injury or death. Thanks for listening charlief.
Without prior warning lower ball joints broke, causing major damage to vehicle. Vehicle has expierienced the same problem as mentioned in ODI recall 99V066002. But, the manfacuturer has advised consumer that this vehicle was not part of the recall due to VIN.
When making a left hand turn lower ball joint right front came off, causing the wheel to separate from axle, wheel rolled under the car, causing car to become inoperable. Vehicle was involved in the ball joint recall 99V066001, vehicle was purchased 2 days prior to the incident, both dealer and manufacturer refused to correctthe recall.
Consumer has received recall letter 99V066002. Dealer refused to do repair work, stating that boot was not damaged, and wanted to charge for fixing the control arm.
Recalll 99V066002 lower control arm: Ball joints. Dealer is refusing to perform recall repairs because boot is not cut, but control arm is damaged. They will fix it for a price.
Recall 99V066002/lower ball joins: Dealer refused to honor recall. Informed consumer that vehicle had too many miles. Notified manufacturer, and informed that the letter was a misprint and sould have the milages limitation on it. Ask NHTSA's help in this matter. Feel free to provide any further details.
99V066.002/lower ball joint: Recall received and dealer notified. Vehicle taken to dealer for recall. But dealer informed consumer that the lateral arm needs to be cut, and consumer would be charged for this before recall work could be performed. Need NHTSA input on this matter.
During recall repair inspection of the front lower ball joints, dealership advised that component was fine however additional repair of the lower lateral arms needed replacement (not included in recall repair).(99V066001) mjs
