Antilock brake malfunctioned on several occasions when there was need to brake suddenly resulting in several near crashes. When brake was applied grinding noise heard and then anti lock brake light came on and remained on. This has occurred too often and Mitsubishi needs to recall this model and fix it. The latest incident occurred on August 5, 2007, but there have been several instances of this happening before.
- the contact stated that the 1995 Mitsubishi Galant ABS light turned on 03/11/07. He stated that while driving the vehicle in the evening hours at the speed of 50-55 mph the ABS light turned on. He noticed a change in the brake system. He stated that the brake pedal became difficult to press. He called the dealership on 3/12/07, and they informed him to check and see if the vehicle was on recall, and if it was, to call them back. The contact found no recall for the ABS, but did find a number of complaints with the same problem. The contact stated that the ABS light continued to stay on. He stated that he hasn't driven the vehicle recently, but did start it up, and the light ABS light was still on. The current mileage was 150000.
After ABS operation pedal relesed intermittently, brakes remain applied, ABS too sensitive, warning lamp some times on, codes, manufacturer has updated control unit $800 for this problem, stop switch previously repaired at dealer for campain.
While driving vehicle suddenly acclerated due to the throttle being stuck. Also, brakes malfunctioned, causing extended stopping distance which could cause a crash.
While driving at 10 mph the rubber ball joint failed. Also, consumer applied brakes, and vehicle spun out of control and did a 360 degree turn. Vehicle hit another vehicle on the front passenger's side.
