The contact owns a 2006 Mitsubishi Endeavor. The contact stated that while parking, the shift lever failed to shift from the drive to the park position. The contact stated that the emergency brake had to be engaged in order to stop the vehicle from moving and turn it off. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08V139000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000.

The vehicle was taken three times to the dealer who repaired the heater vent but the failure recurred. The recall NHTSA campaign id number: 10V514000 (electrical system: Software). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offered any assistance. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 90,000. The initial issue is the seat belts in the rear fail to return and/or do not come out. The more recent issue is the rear tailgate which is now failing to open unless done mechanically by climbing over back seat and attempting to access switch internally. We are being told by our mechanic that it is an issue with the internal computer
