On my 2001 Eclipse one day I noticed my hood sticking up a little bit in the driveway. I popped the hood and the passenger side strut had busted through the rusted strut tower.. Apparently this is a well known issue due to a bad design and crumby quality paint. The car was no longer safe to drive and there was no real fix because it's not a replaceable part. Other than this major flaw the car was very dependable. It was bought new in 2001 and before it was junked in early 2018 it went through an alternator, radiator and an AC compressor.
