BMW has a class action lawsuit that was settled that added an extended warranty for the timing chain. 7 yrs or 100k miles. My car was purchased at a used dealership who didn't have the timing chain repaired/replaced because the extended warranty only works when it breaks. It broke at 90000 miles with 8 yrs so when I contacted Mini, they forced me to take to a Mini dealership 2 hours away (I had to pay towing) only to tell me what I knew already and said they would pay $400 towards the repair. They knew of this issue and should have done the right thing. This car has needed new ac compressor, heating element, and the coils replaced in the 1 1/2 yrs of my unfortunately owning it. This car should be classified as a lemon and I want out. I want it gone. The check engine light stays on most of the time EXCEPT when it left me stranded due to the timing chain. Flow Mini In Winston Salem just want to sell me a new one. This is the worst car I have ever owned. If I could just get a reliable car, I surely would but I can't afford to due to all the repairs this car has put me in. I have a new loan for $3400 to replace the timing chain. I am happy to tell the world NOT to buy a Mini.
