Warning - 2016 Mini Cooper Countryman engine caught on fire after being driven short distance. Parked, engine off, walked into house and was immediately told engine was smoking. In matter of minutes, engine was engulfed in flames. No warning lights had lit up on dashboard, no smell from engine... Absolutely no way of knowing it would ignite. Engine completely burnt out, windshield and sun roof destroyed. Had to go to hospital to check out for smoke inhalation after keeping hose on engine until fire department arrived.
The vehicle was taken in for all maintenances as required. But fire occurred after the vehicle was turned off. Something needs to be done to find out why this is happening to the Mini Cooper engine. Buyer beware.
