I have 2 Mini Coopers with the same engine both have head gasket leaks right at 75000 miles. This is totally ridiculous to have to deal with this with such low mileage. Surely I’m not the only one that feels that there need to be a resolution to pay for the repairs?
I was driving my '12 Countryman S from Eugene to Mini in Portland Oregon for service. On Interstate 5, the car started making a loud sounds from the engine, smoke from the tail pipe and smoke in the cabin.
I was able to get to the shoulder. I had to call a wrecker who would tow back to Eugene. (Portland was too far).
I found a repair garage that advertised Mini service. While there, they diagnosed a broken timing chain that had destroyed the engine. They recommend searching for another engine. So far they found an engine near Eugene for $3,500. I have no idea how much this is gonna cost in the end. Waiting on the bill(s).
Just want to let people know that the mini turbos are known for not lasting a long time and they can destroy your engine in the process. I was lucky with two weeks left on my warranty!
