Here is an E mail discussion I hBob,
Sorry to hear about your disappointment. In NYS leasing companies are required to send a third-party inspector to review the condition of your car, so unfortunately, we do not have any control over the outcome. We do try to advise clients before they turn in a lease if we see any chargeable damage, or if we think it may need tires. In this case, your car was dropped off here by a non-MINI dealer a few months before the lease expiration, so we never had a chance to do any lease end review with you. We will do whatever we can to help, starting with getting you photos from the inspection so the actual tire depth can be verified. If anything seems out of line, we will work hard to have it corrected. Performance rated all season tires typically have a life span of 15,000-25,000 miles depending on the driver and driving conditions. If your car did need tires at 20,000 miles, it would not be out of the ordinary. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding, I will forward you the photos from the inspection once I have retrieved them.
From: bobsujka@gmail.com [mailto:bobsujka@gmail.com] Sent: Monday, March 13, 2017 12:08 PM To: customerrelations@bmwusa.com Subject: AutoVIN Lease Termination Good Morning. I am writing you today to tell you that I handed in my 2014 Mini Cooper with less than 20,000 miles on it with the option of going 30,000 miles. I performed or asked about tire rotation etc. every time service was due. I brought my car in before longer trips to make sure all was well prior to leaving. What are these tires rated at 15,000 miles? I also handed in the vehicle 3 months early & totally paid off. You cannot in good conscience ask me to pay money when you benefitted from getting over $1,200.00 and early turn in with over 10,000 miles under lease agreement. There should be a warranty regarding these cheaply made tires! Please re-consider these charges as unreasonable & return to me a zero balance. Also understand my sister will NOT be leasing through Mini in December if this holds & she also had to replace 2 tires with 14.000 miles on them! You asking me to pay $300.00 is more than ridiculous! This should have been discussed up front when I leased the car. If what was said is true I would only be able to drive my 3 year 30,000 mile vehicle approx. 5,000 a year to not have to replace the tires PLUS the tires I was required to replace them with were more expensive and had a longer tread life. Why not just put new tires from same company?
