On Sept 2012, I bought a used 2009 Mini Convertible from the dealer with only 7300 miles. At the time I thought it was a great deal and a fun car to drive around as a 2nd car in the summer. Almost 2 years and 14,000 miles later it is diagnosed with a worn out clutch due to wear and tear!! Late, upon further inspection they claim the Fly Wheel has "hot spots" on it and should also be replaced.

I've tried to challenge the dealer by saying it's impossible for a clutch to wear out in just 14000 miles, especially given my driving style, unless it's faulty to begin with. Dealer claims that Mini does not take responsibility and basically it's my problem to the tune of $2700!! That is more than 10% of the cost of the car.

After researching Mini clutch problems on the internet, it turns out that is a common problem. I'm surprised that they haven't recalled cars that are burning through such an expensive part in less than 1/2 the expected time.

Does anyone know of any class action law suits related to this? Or has anyone gone to small claims court on a related issue?
