My 1999 Mercury Villager with approx 39K miles started showing this problem in April 2006. When I press the gas pedal after the light turns green, the pedal does not depress. I press harder, it finally depresses, but the van lunges forward. One time I got honked from behind. This happened about 5 times. I was planning on taking it to the shop. Then a few days later the van started trembling during idle and the "service" indicator came on. I took it to the shop on April 29th. They charged me approx $550 to replace one fuel injector and clean the throttle body and other fuel injectors. Yesterday, May 3rd the van did the same thing with a stuck gas pedal. I searched on the internet and found several complaints of this nature. Please let me know what options I have.

Check engine soon light came on and I took the vehicle to the dealer as instructed in owners manual. The vehicle had been chugging when idling at a stop. For the second time in 6 months when the vehicle was presented to the dealer for service - a fuel injector had to be replaced. Fortunately I had purchased an extended warranty so the vehicle was covered except for the $50 deductable. However, there will come a time when the warranty runs out and the mechanic informed me that he has seen that the fuel injectors in this model "go out every 20,000 or so" miles. I asked if there was a preventive maintenence procedure I could deploy and he advised me there was not - "the injectors will fail" I was instructed. I wonder how many other Mercury Villager owners are experiencing the same problem.
