The contact owns a sunshine kids child restraint, radian 80, model number 185000, manufactured on December 17, 2007. The child restraint was secured in a 2000 Mercury Sable. The contact stated when the occupant was positioned in the forward facing convertible child restraint seat, the harness release buckle failed to engage in the unlock mode because the two plastic prongs broke. The contact expressed concern regarding the safety issue and planned to notify the manufacturer of the defect. The failure mileage and VIN were unknown.
