I have the same problem with my 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, 85,000 miles, as case number 10187427. Rubbing sound in driver's side rear wheel as wheel rotates; going frontwards or backwards brakes, pads, rotors, calipers all have been replaced and noise has not ceased.

2002 Mercury Mountaineer, transmission is bucking, over drive light flashing, check transmission light on. Also rotated tires, changed brakes, and had rotors cut yet there still is a pulsating felling in front end when stopping.

2002 Mountaineer stalls, transmission control assembly, main control valve, and gasket had to be replaced. The lift gate was sticking, and while closing it, the glass shattered, the glass was recalled, and was suppose to have been fixed. The oil light illuminated. The trim on the front door fell off while driving. There was a grinding noise coming from the rear wheels, it was determined that there was severe rust on the brake componets, the park brake shoes fell apart due to corrosion, the rear wheel bearing and knuckle assembly had excessive rust.

I have a continued problem of the ABS light coming on. I have had it in the shop 5-6 times. They changed the sensor and a while later it comes back on. On several occasions, my brakes have gone all the way to the floor. The dealership maintains that Mercury is aware of the problem and may be working on a recall. My light is now on again and have placed a call to the dealership. I have to wait for the manager to return to town to see what he would like to do. Oh, and I do have the extended warranty that I have paid over $2,000. What is that for" what will it take, my brakes to go out"
