Went to turn wipers on after washing van's window and the wipers failed to operate. Because the local weather was anticipated to rain, needed to go to my mechanic (garage.) Mechanic looked at it and diagnosed it was the wiper transmission and to call this morning (the 25th) if I need them to repair.
I did call mechanic this morning to order part. I stopped at garage after work and informed the the replacement part is no where to be found on Earth. They also informed me that the Ford dealer said their system shows this part as discontinued and can be found in any warehouse. When I went to the dealer's service center myself, told same thing and informed Ford stops making replacement parts after 7 years. This practice may appear good from an automotive sense; and is legal from a governmental legal sense; however, from an ethical and moral sense, it totally and absolutely immoral as it indirectly forces the working poor, who need vehicles to go back and forth to a workplace, and forced to keep staying in debt to buy new cars more often, when cars from years ago lasted much longer and there were some which lasted 20+ years if preventative maintenance was performed.
I'm wishing to add this major problem so people considering buying this vehicle, to learn of of common problems with their dangerous problems.
Thank you
