The brake light, ABS light, and electric stabilizer lights came on, which resulted in the loss of full braking. I took the car to my mechanic; he discovered that the ABS pump was leaking. I purchased a used ABS pump, and after installing it, the mechanic had no success resetting the codes. He told me it could be that the part is a used one, so I ordered a new ABS pump from parts maven Ford. After installing the new part, the mechanic had the same issues with it as well. The mechanic is not able to clear or reset all codes for the electric stabilizer, ABS, and brake lights and adequately calibrate the brakes. It left the brake very soft on the pedal, and it required pressing the brake hard to the floor to bring the car to a full stop. What's worst, when moving from the park, the car would roll forward or backward and is not stopping the vehicle as it ought to do. It takes longer to stop, and it requires pressing hard on the brake and longer distance to come to a full stop. Upon further research, the mechanic found out that Ford knew about the problem and had issued a recall for owners who were experiencing the same problem mentioned above to have their vehicles fix for free at a Ford repair shop. I contacted Ford on 10/12/20 only to be told by the Ford repair shop and on an online chat with a Ford rep that my car, while it's one of the vehicles listed in the recall, is not applicable due to my VIN#. it is very troublesome because Ford only limited the recall to some 2010 Mercury Milan hybrid and not to mine. It's a safety issue that they admitted to knowing about and is the only one who can fix it, yet they refuse to include my car. Since I have been without the use of my car for over one month, I have no choice but to take it to a Ford repair shop and get it to fix at my own expense and will follow-up with a lawsuit against Ford to get my money reimbursed.

I was driving the short distance home when my vehicle began to shake back and forth. The error light came on stating that the power steering needed to be checked. When I turned off the car and turned it back on, the car no longer allowed the power steering to drive. The electric rack and pinion for my 2010 Mercury Milan needs to be replaced. There have been several recalls for the same problem with other Mercury Milan but my particular car does not have the same recall even with the same occurance.

While my wife was driving the car, brakes felt soft and car wouldn't stop. She was in a residential area at low speeds and was able to coast to a stop. She restarted the car and everything was fine. Ford says it's due to a faulty ABS module which seems to be a known issue, but no safety recall. Issue also affected traction control system and prevented hybrid from staying in ev mode when accelerating at low speeds. Ford charging over $1,200 to replace ABS module.

Intermittently, when vehicle is in motion, wrench light comes on and vehicle begins to decelerate. Once vehicle is pulled over to safety, vehicle needs to be shut off. Afterwards, the vehicle may be restarted and the wrench light disappears and the vehicle drives normally for a few more miles. Then, the issue comes back again. To get anywhere from a to B, the vehicle will need to be pulled over to safety and shut off and restarted each time the wrench light comes on and the vehicle begins to decelerate.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 18V046000 (air bags). Montrose Ford (3960 medina rd, fairlawn, oh 44333, (330) 666-0711) was unable to determine when the part would become available for an extended period of time. The dealer provided the option of a loaner vehicle. The vehicle was also included in field service action number: 13N03 (electronic throttle body extended coverage). The contact also stated that when the brake pedal was depressed for three days or longer, it became more difficult to stop the vehicle and the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The contact traveled through a red light due to the failure. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake master cylinder may need to be replaced. The vehicle was not included in any brake system recalls. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I was in motion merging onto a two lane highway. I ran over two consecutive manhole covers while lightly braking to see if it was clear. But when I went to brake because it wasn't clear to merge onto the highway I had barely any brake! thankfully the car in front of me was able to merge or I would have hit him. After that I had a very soft brake pedal. Left it in a parking lot until after work. So hours later, the brakes seemed fine. But I didn't trust it. Had it towed and Ford told me it was the ABS hcu and ECU and that they are known for this problem. Especially after traveling on a rough roadway. I had to go back to the road the next day because I couldn't remember it being a rough road. Then I saw the two consecutive manhole covers. I ran them over in my husbands truck and sure enough, even his truck jolted from them, enough for the ABS to engage. This is a horrible issue and I'm amazed that Ford has not made it a recall yet! what will it take!? the repair was quite expensive. And I was out of a car for two whole weeks! it took almost a week for the part to come in. Not sure if that was the dealers bs or Ford not having the parts readily available for an issue they already know exists. This has not been my first Ford product but it sure may be my last!

Heading to work. Advance track May. Pops on. Then service power stearing. Steering wheel felt a little tight. But it was still drivable. Made it to work, once shift was over. I went to back out and the wheel wouldn't turn at all. Come to.find out this has been a big problem. On the 2010's. all.seem.to.be happong with an the last 12-18 months. Along with the previous (furl rank recall, and the current air bag recall.) this things should be taken off the road! that's too many major issues. Come on Ford! I guess it will take a big accident for anything to really happen.....

When I was driving the car started to sputter and would not pick up speed. I took the car to a mechanic who ran a diagnostic test and gave me the codes to take to a Ford dealership. The sensor switch for both rear breaks where replaced. A week later same thing happened. It is currently doing the same thing. The break system light is coming on and the control system light. Nobody seems to be able to fix it. I have been driving down the highway, on private streets when the car starts to sputter and I have to turn it off and on at least 3 times before it will pick up speed and go.

Having problems with power steering and electronic stability. Wet road the car would slide on curve roads in snow the car looses power and won't barely moves RPM go down. The steering wheel won't move in reverse sometimes. Tires get worn out every 4 to 6 weeks wires show to tire on the in side. Steering don't lock when car is off and key out. Car sales me to take key out while its in gear. And car can be shift in gear and steer when key is not in. Didn't do this when I got it. Once and a while power train light comes on and its stuck in low gear.

I was driving my 2010 Mercury Milan. I had a flat tire. Now the "service the advance track" and the "service the power steering" warning message will not turn off and the car no longer has power steering. This is a recall issue on the 2011 Milan. The 2010 has the identical part. Why is the defect a recall on the 2011 Milan and not on the 2010? it is the same defective part.

A few weeks ago, I had a hard time steering my car at an intersection. When I tried steering, the car would shake as I turned. Although the roads were wet, my tires are relatively new, so I new it wasn't the traction. I turned off the electronic steering assistance and it started turning again. A few days ago, I was turning, the roads were damp, but not wet and I had my steering assist on (it goes on by default). When I tuned, the car went the opposite way of the direction I was turning. I had to turn off my steering assist in order to regain control of my car. There were no alarms, notice or alerts on my control panel. Also, when it's been a hot day or a cold day, the car won't start.

On July 1st I was making driving on the frontage road in my 2010 Mercury Milan and all of a sudden my passenger tire blew out so I pulled over to check what happened and when I came back to the car "service power steering" and "service advance trac" were lit up on my dash board. We changed the tire to the spare but when we were ready to drive the steering wheel was very difficult to move side to side. Luckily a family member lived near by so we were able to take the car there but the steering wheel was still hard. The next day we went to go get a new tire to replace the spare thinking maybe it was the spare that caused the service messages to appear on the dashboard but even with the tire change the steering wheel is still not able to allow any sort of turning motion unless there is an extremely strong effort to turn it. I'm aware that this exact incident also happened to another customer. I'm also aware how there's a recall on the 2011 but not on the 2010. A recall needs to be given for this year also because I've seen many complaints about the electrical power steering and advance trac. It's not right for us to have to cough up 1000 to fix something that is a defect in the car. I still owe on this car and don't plan to just have it sitting there with no use to it and throwing money down the drain. Please investigate these incidents of power steering and advance trac on the 2010 Mercury Milan so we too can get the recall that we need!

Driving on highway at 65mph when the service power steering light comes on and the power steering goes out with stability control. It was very hard to just keep the car in the lane of the highway not to mention to turn the car. This had happen twice before with a Ford dealership resetting the sensor. This time the car went into the Ford shop coming out with them having to replace the power steering unit for a cost of $1700 but when they reported it to carfax it was only reported as an alignment and inspection! I feel that Ford knows this is an issue with this model car.
