NHTSA recall number: 19V904 applies to my vehicle and is now over a year old. The manufacturer has yet to issue a remedy. This is far too long for a recall to be in place and still not have a fix. Furthermore, the vehicle now has a second recall, 21V158. How long will this all take?

My car did not stop when brake was applied resulting in a crash into the car that was in front of me. Both cars were getting ready to enter the main road from a side street. I was starting to proceed and we had to stop and wait for oncoming traffic when I hit my brakes it did not stop before I hit the car. Recall # 19S54

Pulling into parking space going 10 to 15 mph. Brake pedal went all the way to floor. Tried again to stop. Brakes held the 2nd time. Local Ford dealership came to lot and picked up the car. Ran diagnostics on car and could find no problem with braking system.

In more than one instance the brakes have suddenly gone "soft", making it very difficult to break. One time the driver went over a bumpy area in the road and two other times it occurred when the roads were wet. The most recent incident resulted in rear-ending another car. In the most recent incident, the driver was heading North on governor's square boulevard towards E. magnolia drive in tallahassee, fl. It was raining lightly and the roads were wet. The driver was within the posted speed limit of 35 mph. As the driver approached the intersection, the light was red. When the driver hit the brakes the pedal went "soft" and she had to push it as hard as possible to continuing braking. Though the car was slowing, it was not able to stop before the reaching other cars at the intersection. The result was that the car rear-ended another car which then pushed into another car in front. The drivers of the 2 other vehicles stopped, police came, and a crash report was issued. We determined it would be best to leave the car parked until it could be determined if the brakes would recover. When we returned the following day, the brakes appeared to be functioning properly, but in an abundance of caution, the driver is not driving the car. In the previous 2 occurrences of the brake problems, we brought the car to an auto repair shop. The first time, no problems could be found (date could be provided with auto records). The second time (around May 2017), it was diagnosed as a master cylinder and that was part was replaced and the repair completed. Between the first and second incident, the brake system was completely redone as regular maintenance on the car. So, the correction work performed and regular maintenance, were not successful in addressing the issue.

When I came to an intersection, my anti-lock brakes kicked in and malfunctioned causing the pedal to go to the floor and I lost braking power. I pushed even harder on the pedal and it seemed like I had brakes but no power to the brake system. I shut off the vehicle, pumped the brakes twice and restarted. The pedal went back to normal and I was able to brake fine.

While driving if the anti lock brake system is activated by a slick road surface, the brake pedal subsequently goes to the floor for several subsequent applications. We normally have to pull over and pump the brakes repeatedly to get the pedal back to normal. The brakes work normally during all other normal use.

The contact owns a 2006 Mercury Milan. While driving approximately 55 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floor when it was depressed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred for approximately two years, but the vehicle would eventually stop. The last failure was the worst of them all. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Mercury Milan. While attempting to stop the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal traveled all the way to the floor. The contact mentioned that the brake pedal was very soft when attempting to brake on an uneven road or when braking abruptly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on several occasions where the brakes were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
