The contact owns a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated that the automatic door lock feature was inoperable. Additionally, the driver's door failed to unlock while using the key fob. The contact was able to lock and unlock the other doors with the key fob. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000.

2006 Mercury marquis. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle power steering issues. The consumer stated while driving, the steering became tight. He stated it felt as though he was going to loose control of the vehicle. The dealer replaced the battery harness assembly, due to the wiring being corroded.

The contact mentioned that the high beam bar had to be held backwards in order for the head lights to work. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,200.

In addition, the cigarette lighter fuse would blow when used, which the contact was concerned could cause a fire. The dealer diagnosed that there was a wiring failure. The manufacturer was contacted and denied any assistance with repairs to the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 71,000. Updated 11/10/11 the consumer stated the air bag light illuminated and the warning bell rings 20 times when he started the vehicle. Also, the warning bell would ring 20 times every few minutes. The dealer refused to fix the problem. The dealer stated the problem was an electrical issue. The consumer was also informed the vehicle needed a seat belt pretensioner and buckle. The consumer also stated when he plugged his cell phone into the cigarette lighter, it blew a fuse. Updated 11/16/11
