Once again, Ford Climate control problems, actuator door, actually have to break the old one to get the new one in, Please see my 2007 Ford Expedition complaint. I actually had a junk yard owner tell me that they buy wrecked crown vics and marquis just to get the interior climate control to sell as it was worth more than the junked car, that's how widespread the problem is with these climate control problems. If you do the replacement, make sure you keep battery disconnected for at least 25 mins before restart to clear old memory. Also keep in mind the issue could also involve the fan sensor up against the firewall. The sensor communicates with the interior control to determine fan speed, you can ignore the little wheel that turns to high manually, it does little if the interior unit and fan speed sensor are not working.

This has happened to everyone I know that had this car. AC/Heat just stopped and wouldn't work. The garage said they would have to pull out the whole dash to fix it!! Got it home and few months later the fan stopped blowing! I use to love this car for it handles nice and great to drive but the problem is costly and annoying!

The O-rings in the head unit dry out and blend door gets stuck on defrost. Pulled head unit and replaced all O-rings and reinstalled. Issue fixed without costly replacement of unit.

Grand Marquis LSE 4.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,410 miles

THE ELECTRONIC CLIMATE CONTROL FAILED ON MY 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS AT 56, 410 MILES. IT LOOKS ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THE UNIT MY MOTHER HAD ON HER 1988 LINCOLN MARK V11. HER UNIT FAILED EARLY ON, JUST AS MINE DID. I FEEL FORD HAS TO DO A BETTER JOB ON THE DESIGN OF THESE UNITS. THEY HAVE HAD ENOUGH TIME TO LEARN FROM THEIR PRIOR FAILURES WITH THIS CONTROLLER, AND MAKE THE NECESSARY CORRECTIONS.
