2000 Mercury marquis has a defective steering gear box. The problem was due to a defective bushing in the steering gear box that put a binding motion on the steering mechanism. The binding action was overridden by power assist on turns, but necessitated that the power assist be used to complete the return after the turn was completed.

While driving vehicle made a very loud noise. Took vehicle to the dealer and got no satisfaction. Took it to another dealer, and was told that rear end bearings had to be replaced due to deterioration.
