Contact owns a 1999 Mercury Cougar. While contact's son drove the vehicle the hood latch broke, causing the hood to fly up and shatter the windshield. The consumer has contacted service dealer, but they stated there was no recall, and that the consumer would be responsible for the cost. The consumer has contacted the manufacturer.
