Mercedes created a dangerous design flaw in the 2019 and 2020 Sprinter vans. They located very shallow drink holder on the drivers side dash above the speedometer. I was placing a cup of coffee in the holder, which caught the edge slightly, and spilled a 1/4 cup of coffee which was quickly cleaned up. The ingenious designers at Mercedes decided to locate a vent directly behind the drink holder that leads directly to the starter module and wiring loom. I was lucky that we were not driving, because the started module shorted out, and the van would not start. Mercedes claimed that this was my fault, and charged $2,700 to replace the starter module and wiring loom. OPEN VENT DIRECTLY ABOVE STARTER MODULE NEXT TO A DRINK HOLDER, is a ridiculously dangerous design that is going to get somebody killed.
