An employee took my vehicle to Mercedes dealer due to hitting debris on highway. MB mechanic recommended disassembling and inspecting rear differential for damage from road debris. At a minimum it will need new pinion seal, flex disc, read drive line bolts, 2 rear diff fluid input flange and nut. "Could have unseen internal damage to rear diff." Mechanic never stated there was a leak. Estimate price $2,447.64.

Second quote from another repair shop indicated there was a leak and would have to remove rear differential, replace pinion seal, side seals, and flex disc(with driveshaft) reseal backing plate, and inspect internals for damage. Cost $2,726.52.

Costly and you would think the seals would last a little longer considering it is recommended by MB that you change the fluid every 4th service or every 10 years.
