This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
While at freeway speeds the right front wheel bearing began to growl and continued to get worse until replaced at a dealer. It seems it is premature for a bearing to fail, the vehicle had been serviced at about 121000 miles.
At 57,000 the rack and pinion seals went out on the steering making the car extremely difficult to steer. Rear seat belts had never been used until 12/1/14 at which time I found they were not usable. They were locked into position. The service writer at the Mercedes dealership said he owned the same model and had to replace his twice. Dealer and factory both refused to repair either item.
The power steering rack developed a leak causing the oil pressure to the unit to fail resulting in loss of power steering function. This vehicle dose not have a warning system to alert the driver of this type of failure. A previous safety recall was issued January 2009 (safety recall #2008-120011) for 2008 ml 320's for a defect such as this. However, this particular vehicle was not part of that recall. We feel this part should last the life of the vehicle without failure.
