The contact owns a 2001 Mercedes Benz ML320. While driving approximately 60 mph, the steering failed and the contact lost control of the vehicle. He crashed into a tree and the vehicle was completely destroyed. The air bags deployed and the chemicals caused severe burns on his right arm. He has supporting documents. After the crash, the contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number 08V465000 (steering:hydraulic power assist:hose, piping, and connections), which explicitly referenced the failure that he experienced. He called the manufacturer and is currently waiting for a response. The failure and current mileages were 68,000.
My wife ran into the back of a parked car on a residential street. She was driving her 2001 Mercedes ML320 at approximately 35 mph. At impact, the vehicle flipped, landing on the passenger side roof at the front corner, then rolled over to an upright position. Not a single airbag in the vehicle activated to protect her, even though both sides impacted the ground during the flip and rollover.
Safety system failure, including braking assist, seat belts, air bags and tel-aide due to computer chip failure. Caused two accidents after which customer paid to have vehicle reviewed bumper to bumper and the failing chip was replaced. During this time, the dash warning lights did not illuminate to warn of the failure which the vehicle computer documented 15 times in a six-month period (between the two accidents). Approximately eight months later, the warning light on the dash illuminated again. Do not know how many times system had failed since it was 'fixed.' Traded in vehicle for safety purposes.

I was hit on the passenger door side on 8/6/05 by a car running a red light. My car was hit so hard it rolled over resting on it's roof. No air bags deployed, not even side ones. I called mb-usa to complain. They didn't seem concerned about the event.
While driving 30 mph the consumers vehicle was hit on the drivers side and subsequently rolled two times before it landed back on all four tires. None of the six air bags deployed and the Mercedes Benz tele-aid system never activated therefore the service center was not immediately informed of the accident.
