I asked that they merely try to lube the hinges. Service rep says it needs new hinges and he has replaced others more noisy than mine, this at one year old!
He tells me they will need to be painted and then my car sent to an independent body shop to take off the door and rehang it. I don't think so. It will never be the same as from the factory. I'll have to live with the noise.
My advice to anyone shopping for a Mercedes GLE 350 vehicle? Buyer beware. I also had to have the drivers seat MB TEX vinyl replaced due to premature wear. Additionally, the parking sensors do not work as stated in the owners manual. They make sound only when the vehicle is within 13 inches or less of the object, in this case, a garage door. They are supposed to give visual and audible sound within 40 inches. The dealer cannot explain why.
By comparison, I have a 2013 Lexus GS350 that has had zero issues since new. It is fully my fault for not buying the Lexus RX and I am now paying the price.
