This is the main reason my car is at Mercedes for service. I have always noted a harder shift between 4th gear and 3rd gear when applying brakes (ie stopping at a stop light). At first I thought it was just back exhaust and noise, but as time went on, it started to shake my steering wheel. Occasionally it would occur during an upshift, but really just from the 4th gear to 3rd gear downshift. I would keep track of the RPM level and it would not occur if I shifted my car manually just at 2000 rpm or 1900 rpm. When the car would be placed back in Automatic, it would always occur. I finally got my car to the service manager and let him drive my car. He was shocked at how evident this shake was. He immediately scheduled my car for service appointment and my car has been there 10 days and counting. They have opened a case for it now and getting recommendations from the area service technician (who also covers 14 dealerships). They are talking about "possibly" a new transmission and at this point they are breaking down certain parts as told. I do not know the specifics of each "check" and service that they are performing at this time, but I will tell you that paying a over 100 K for a brand new car that is still being diagnosed with transmission problems is a tough pill to swallow.

At this point in time, I have contacted Mercedes customer service, they dictated my complaint, had an Executive Referral Manager contact me within 24 hours (actually called me in five hours after complaint). I cannot speak greatly or grateful enough about the Mercedes service people and staff and even their customer service, but I cannot speak at all greatly about the car. It was a dream car that took me years of hard work and saving to even look at. Now it has been the worst car I have owned and not sure if I would ever buy another. I understand bad stuff happens to cars, but not usually at 3900 miles. Also, I was told by the dealership I purchased the car from, that the cargo ship carrying my car caught fire en route to America. The car sat at the port of Baltimore for 1 month not being released until certified by I'm assuming a special Mercedes Benz technician. Who knows the irony???????? Happy car shopping. Hope this informs others to pay closer attention to their cars. It is us that helps the consumers and service people and car companies make better products. But if they are going to charge 129 k for a car, it better be right.
