While driving on the highway there was a burning smell coming from inside the car. My son pulled over and opened the driver side door there was smoke coming from the front door speaker. We found several complaints online of the same issue with same year make and model of Mercedes. We brought it to ray catena in Edison NJ explained the problem and they stated it was not covered even though they stated a faulty amplifier after trying to replace the speaker which melted on them as well. This is a definite safety issue as my son could have been injured be so he was driving at the time. This was not a normal wear and tear repair.

I was driving the car down 880 until I suddenly heard a cracklings noise coming from the back of my car. I had just gotten the car serviced a week before so this was very unpleasant and surprising. I ended up turning back and parking my car at home. The next day while driving to the dealer I still heard the noise and there was a weird burning smell. The noise continued even after shutting off the car. I went to the dealer and they diagnosed that the right passenger speaker had melted and they also changed my amp. In my dealer notes, it states that there have been multiple occurrences yet it seems like there is no recall.

The vehicle was in transit on the highway at cruising speeds when suddenly the right rear speaker began to make noises that sounded like a rattling or crackling. Previously, the car had been making similar crackling noises from the front dashboard, however upon the spread of this noise to the right rear speaker, the car soon filled with the smell of burning rubber and smoke. As the smell progressed, I pulled over in fear of a potential fire and had the vehicle towed after I was told that it could catch on fire if I continued driving it. This is an extremely dangerous issue that could more severely effect another individual should they not be as keen on noticing cabin sounds and or the smell of smoke. The smell of smoke is rather potent and intense though, so it is unlikely that would go unnoticed.

I was driving on route 40 (speed limit 55mph, but 45 mph due to construction) when I began hearing rattling in my rear passenger side speaker, then crackling, a burning smell and then smoke filled my vehicle. I believed my vehicle was on fire. Had I not remained calm, I could have caused an accident. I ended up driving to a nearby walmart parking lot where I left my vehicle until it was towed to the dealership for a diagnostic. The tow truck driver also confirmed smelling the burning upon starting my vehicle to pull it onto the tow truck. This happened although no audio was being used in the vehicle. I googled the issue and located similar stories on mbworld.org forum dating back to 2016. The issue is melting harmon kardon speakers in the 2014 E350 model. Speakers do not melt as a part of normal wear and tear, but because of poor wiring, adhesive and/or craftsmanship. My service advisor called me today and confirmed my suspicions that the rear passenger speaker had in fact melted and my front driver side speaker is also in the process of suffering the same fate. Both need replacing. Because my vehicle has been out of warranty for just over a year, there are no recalls for this issue and it is not a "known issue" I am expected to pay out of pocket for 2 malfunctioning/ melting speakers caused by the manufacturer. This is a safety issue, could have caused both an electrical fire in my vehicle (near my gas tank) and me to have gotten in an accident. Please issue a recall before someone is seriously hurt.

08/13/2018 when I was driving home today steering and brakes failed for like 1-2 minutes and I lost control.. then all the instrument warning lighting started to flash continually the temp gauge and RPM was in motion. SRS and all pre safe functions malfunctioned I can send an video of this if there is a way to upload. I think this is a serious safety issue what if I lost control on a highway, even for a split seconds. Why I bought a Mercedes I thought its a safer car well that's how they advertise it the best or nothing. But that couple of minutes was scary and shocking for

I saw "power steering malfunction" light appeared and my power steering stop working immediately. The car was in drivable condition and I had to make only one right turn to reach home. This has happened when mileage on my car was 30509 well below 50,000-mile warranty. Earlier year ago, I bought the car with salvage license. Salvage license was issued as car was stolen and insurnace company was not able to recover. It was recovered after that without any damage.no accident to the car. Mb has voided the warranty due to salvage license. I want to bring to your attention (irrespective of type of title) as inherent problem exist.

While driving on the highway, I attempted a heavy acceleration to get the car up to traffic speed. Two times in the past 60 days, the car seriously malfunctioned with multiple dashboard indicator lights and the main text "pre safe functions limited" accompanied by a total loss of speed control. The accelerator became 100% unresponsive and I had to coast to an emergency lane. There was significant danger in both instances as I had to cross multiple lanes of traffic with no power to get to safety. The weather was clear and the external sensors were not obstructed by dirt or snow- which has previously caused the pre-safe functions limited message. I believe that the multiple errors indicated on the dashboard are all erroneous to the core issue of a sudden and total loss of power upon heavy acceleration. The resolution was to shift the car into park, push the ignition button as if turning the vehicle off, wait and restart. The car operates normally upon restart. Note that the engine appeared to already be off prior to shifting into park. It is as if the heavy acceleration killed the engine. This issue has potential fatal consequences if the driver is unable to get the car out of the lane of high speed traffic-- as I was in. A less experienced or panicked driver could easily fail to handle the situation and get rear ended at high speed as the car can only be reset by getting it into park and restarted. Similar blog posts online report the same with other Mercedes vehicles. I have had the car for four months and it has happened twice. Seems like a software/electronic issue causing the mechanical issue to me. Very dangerous.

I was traveling on highway 26 at approximately 60 mph getting ready to merge onto highway 526, when the entire digital warning panel lit up and then went dead, with the engine inoperable light coming on and asking me to refer to the owners manual. All power was cut from the gas pedal and I was lucky enough to be able to coast to a very small strip of median without being hit by any other vehicles. This is a very heavily trafficked area and charleston being a port city I was very fortunate that the trucks that were around me were able to avoid hitting me. If I had been in another situation, such as pulling out into traffic or trying to cross over a two lane highway the results could have been catastrophic to say the least. I have been told by the dealer that there was a bulletin issued involving the throttle valve actuator, topic # LI54.18-P-058597, version 9. they have not been able to tell me why this happened in the first place, cannot guarantee it will happen again and I would like to know why there was not a recall for this particular potentially life threatening issue? sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Driving on highway when abruptly car slowed down (lost cruise control), heard an instrument sound and noticed amber warning light on instrument panel "active blind spot assist inoperative", "active lane keeping assist inoperative" "histrionic plus inoperative", "pre-safe inoperative" - these warnings cycled repeatedly. Lasted 45-60 seconds, then everything returned to normal. Incident has occurred on 5 separate occasions. Have had car looked at for this twice and they can't find anything wrong to explain it.
