The reviews on MB were great so I purchased my E350 in good condition in 2011 and thought I was home free. Less did I know I was in for big problems to come? I have been in 3 potholes and each time there is a problem. In all the 3 occasions the tires were total and I have to get new ones to replace. Also out of the 3 incidents 2 rims had to be replaced. The rims were damaged so badly that it seemed they were in serious accidents. I cannot bring myself to believe that Mercedes Benz wheels quality are so cheap that any small hole could damage the tires plus the rims. The recent incident cost me a total of $ 1700 for a tire and a rim. This is the second time I am shelling out this amount of money. This is disturbing. I am now not even confident driving my E350. Constantly looking out for holes on the street to avoid and this is dangerous considering other cars on the road. Avoiding pot holes may rather lead to a crash with another car. In all my cars that I have owed since obtaining my driver’s license (25 years ago) I have never had a rim damaged with potholes but under 1.5 years I have had 2 rims damaged on a supposedly durable car. I am thinking a more safer and ordinary make car and park the E350 somewhere. I feel very unsafe now driving the E350 and moreover I don’t have $1700 to shell out all the time. I am surprised there are no recalls on the wheels. The wheels require a more durable material.
