My fuel pump died in December. The extended 15-year/150K miles warranty expired a year earlier. I was told that I have to replace the entire fuel tank, because the fuel pump is part of the fuel tank in the PZEV cars. I already replaced it in 2010, so this will be the third fuel tank! MB extended the warranty for 15 years for non-PZEV fuel tanks for unlimited miles for the same problem. The NHTSA should have never allowed MB to accept the extended warranty in place of a recall. Furthermore, per the posts on this site, there are a lot of us getting stuck paying for the manufacturers defect. I've contacted numerous people at my local Mercedes dealerships, MBUSA and even the headquarters in Germany. Their reply, "You're out of luck, the warranty is expired." I also found other MB warranty extensions for 20 and 25 years, so why is this one only for 15 years? Did MB think that the problem would disappear after 15 years? News alert, it didn't!
