I have owned several Mercedes cars and have always counted on their quality and dependability. HOWEVER, the 2007 Engine Fail is a very big issue. Why would a company like Mercedes not repair a faulty part for all owners - regardless of the Class Action suit? Had I known about the issue and the suit I would have been the first to sign up. My dealer never said anything and I keep up my maintenance so its not that they didn't see me. It is infuriating that I am expected to pay for the repair because they used faulty parts at manufacture. There is no reason that I can think of where I would not hold them liable. Suck it up, Mercedes, and make this right!!!!
I took my car in for the "A" service and received an attachment to my invoice for $8104.72 to fix the "KNOWN" issue. Of course, there was an alternative fix: $11,111.15 to replace the engine. Needless to say I was taken aback - WTF Mercedes. I was told that my engine had a defect which involved either taking the engine out and replace the part or replace the engine...ALL AT MY EXPENSE. When I started questioning the whole issue, I was told that Mercedes settled a Class Action by allowing extended warranties of 10 years (or less than 125K miles) from manufacture. Well, since a 10 year warranty extension took it to 2017... HELLO, I wasn't told of the issue until 2019.
AND GET THIS... the dealership told my wife to "take it to CARMAX and trade it in right away". Honestly???
Mercedes needs to "Person-Up" and do the right thing. A Mercedes is a forever car - you count on the longevity and precision engineering. Guess I fell for the marketing.
