Takata recall: I went to Mercedes in paramus, NJ to complete the recall on the airbags to my vehicle.. the service rep stated that because I have an SRS light on in my vehicle that I would need to pay $160 (discounted from the $299) in order to find out what was wrong with the vehicle, then correct that situation (out of my pocket) before they can complete the recall... the funny part is that the SRS light is for the supplemental restraint system which are my air bags!!! I have had the SRS light on my vehicle since I bought he car which has been 9 years! of coarse Mercedes is trying to charge me something because they figure 'why spend so many hours of free labor on a vehicle that is 10 years old' I actually expected this outcome! nothing is ever free with Mercedes.... I am not giving them a penny for an issue I have had with the vehicle since I bought it August 2009

We have been waiting since the start of the NHTSA recall of Mercedes-Benz C300S for faulty airbags for the appropriate replacement. I believe this has been about two years since we received our first notice. Last week we received a notice from our dealership that the part was in and that we should schedule our free repair. However, today, when my husband brought the car in for service he was told that the part was not available. This has been going on for some time and the purpose of this email is to inform NHTSA that mbusa and mb of miami are continuing to fulfill their obligations under federal auto safety laws. We are both disgusted by the length of time this process has taken and we want something to be done to ensure that our car's airbag system is properly repaired.

The contact owns a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that while stationary and driving various speeds, the vehicle made a series of indistinct grinding noises and the steering failed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the serpentine hydraulic belt was replaced in February of 2018. The failure recurred and the independent mechanic replaced the serpentine hydraulic belt a second time. The contact stated that the indistinct grinding noises continued. On August 24, 2018 the vehicle was taken to benzel-busch motor car (28 grand avenue, englewood, New Jersey, (201) 567-1400) as the sunroof had become inoperative. The dealer was able to close the sunroof. However, the work order status form stated that the dealer checked for noise and removed the ocp, inspected cables for damage, and assessed mechanical cables to make sure they did not slip while driving. In addition, the driver and passenger air bag were replaced, as stated by the work order from the dealer. Thereafter, the contact stated that the esp warning light illuminated intermittently. The contact stated that the cruise control became disabled and that the vehicle hesitated to accelerate forward while driving various speeds. Three weeks later the contact stated that the indistinct grinding noises recurred. The vehicle was then taken to Mercedes-Benz of nanuet (99 NY-304, nanuet, New York 10954 (845) 624-1500) where it was determined that oil had leaked from underneath the vehicle and that there was a potential fire risk. The work order repair form stated that the steering column was faulty, as well as the axle boost. The dealer replaced belt tensioners and idler pulleys. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,412. Consumer stated vehicle was a total loss and airbag didn't deploy.

Takata recall, and SRS module. Mercedes Benz paramus will not fix recall unless I pay 400 dollars for a malfunction on the driver side seatbelt buckle, which works fine and locks in place. For previous recall at Mercedes Benz in englewood NJ, they service shop always upcharges and if I refuse to pay they will not do recall. The englewood one tried to charge me 700 dollars for a O2 sensor that needed to be replaced before they can fix recall and I had refused. This was two years ago. Now on 9/12/18 at 3:00pm I dropped my car off for the recall, then they stated that they will do it, then magically my steering wheel column locked and charged me 1100 dollars to fix it without fixing me recall because they stated that the seatbelt buckle was faulty and they need to fix that and charge me 400 dollars before they can fix recall. My phone number is [xxx] I am [xxx] and I reside at [xxx], the shop giving me problems is located in Mercedes Benz in paramus NJ.
