My 2008 mazda tribute 4cyl. 2.3L all wheel drive started losing power badly( around 72,000 miles) before I decided to take to the local shop in GA..At which time they told me the seals around the crankshaft were leaking and this was the problem along with a new crankshaft ,the stock one was warn to badly to be turned.Well $2,490.00 later the engine still had no power and no one could explain to me where the oil and anti-freeze were going to since I was adding oil daily and water every other day. 9 months later and 4 garages later one mechanic finally found the problem which was a cracked engine block. It was cracked behind the exhaust manifold outlet making it near impossible to see or find. Needless to say the average cost for repair is around $6,000.00 and mazda wont help with that cost because I didn't extend the warranty like my dad told me to ( I'm a Dumb ass) According to some Ford and Mazda mechanics Ive talked to, this happens more often then with other motors especially the 2.3 4cyl. engine so anyone who is in the same boat as me my advise would be get a better boat...
