About 6 months after having to replace the entire engine for this Mazda Tribute, the transmission goes. The car only had 80,000 miles on it. I will never by another car like this again! It was been a headache right from the start.

Tribute

  • Automatic transmission
  • 125,000 miles

In 2007 I purchased a 2006 Tribute (less than 12k miles) AND new Mazda 6 (same day). At 55,000 miles the transmission went out on the Tribute and needed to be replaced (under warranty). After driving another 65,000 miles the transmission went out again, and needs to be replaced. The dealer told me that because the original trans was replaced under warranty they only gave me a 12k mile/12 month warranty on the replacement. I've driven 65,000 miles and now need a third transmission. The dealer refuses to help and said they already tried speaking with their factory rep at Mazda who said there is nothing they can do. I'm calling Mazda myself but am sure that a large corporation could give two s..ts about one of their loyal customers. Between me and my family we have purchased at least 7-10 cars from the same dealer, not to mention aftermarket service and this is the way we get treated. Mazda wants to play on the same field as Honda and Toyota-they can't.
