I've never received a recall notice from Mazda even though there is one that exists for the braking system (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 12V016000). I noticed a minor burning smell over the past two months but could not locate the origin. Finally, the ABS system indicator light finally showed up. The ABS system intermittently work (sometimes they're working and then in the middle of braking they stop and start working again). This is all while the ABS light is on. (all reported to Mazda corporate support rep & dealer).
Took it to the dealer under recall warranty. Mazda dealer's notes show:
- Module Connector: Perform 6712A ABS Module: Perform 6812G SCC Recall - Performed 4507C-ABS Module Connector Inspection - Good - Performed 6712A-ABS Module Inspection/Updated - Parts - None
I thought there was AT LEAST a master cylinder cap that had to be replaced.... ? The light is still on. The ABS system still intermittently works/fails.
Mazda dealer quoted me minimum of 5 hours labor to redress corroded or loose wires. Should the ABS wiring inspection be a part of the recall inspection?
