2001 Mazda Tribute - drivers side door handle does not work and finding many people with the same problem on the internet. The car only has 76,000 miles.

The inside driver's side door handle to my 2001 Mazda Tribute snapped making it impossible for the driver to exit the vehicle without rolling down the window. I have found that this is a very frequent occurrence, in fact, the replacement part is on a nationwide backorder due to the extent of the poor design. My mechanic said that the order will not arrive until sometime between 2 weeks and 6 months. He is not sure.

The only way of exiting the vehicle from the driver's side is to roll down the power window and open the door from the outside. The dealer was alerted and the door handle was replaced.
