supposedly a rock took out ac compressor & other prts to it
I purchased a brand new Mazda Miata X5 in March 2012, it had 4 miles on it. Last week at some time the air conditioner would not work, totally hot in Georgia. Then the same week there was a nail in the brand new tire. I took my car to dealer where I originally purchased it, Jim Ellis Mazda of Marietta. Actually, I first took the car to Pep Boys because they fix flat tires for free. They told me because of where the screw punctured the tire, in the area outside just off the tread zone and close to the topside, it could NOT be fixed and they wouldn't even attempt it. Pep Boys suggested since it was such a new car to take it to the dealer, surely they would replace it they said. NOT. Jim Ellis Mazda confirmed they could not fix it and I will have to shell out $200 for a new tire of the same kind. The ironic thing of timing can really be unjust. I felt like I was railroaded into get the PLATINUM extended warranty when I bought the car which was approximately $1,500. I cancelled it just last month thinking that NEVER would I experience a need for it in the first few years AT LEAST. Well after the good news on the tire the Jim Ellis Mazda Service Department checked out my air conditioner. I was told a rock or the like took out the compressor! ARE YOU KIDDING? Something like that is so exposed underneath of the car and is not even protected with some kind of metal shield or SOMETHING! They gave me a written estimate of $1,061.00 to repair it, looked at me like "tough sh*t lady" If that wasn't bad enough, the person who handed it to me acted like it was a common occurrence!
Never had a had such a pleasant dream of owning the car I had wanted for so long come to such a quick, abrupt and grinding halt!.
MAZDA MIATA'S DESIGNERS SUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why even try to repair it, which I can't afford, just to have another simple rock fly up underneath and do another $1,061 worth of damage OR WORSE! Who knows what else is unprotected underneath of this car! Its just a depressing situation now every time I get in it. NEVER AGAIN WILL i BUY A MAZDA, especially from Jim Ellis Mazda of Marietta, Georgia!
Update from Oct 12, 2012: Lo and behold after spending hours trying to find a replacement tire for my BRAND NEW CAR, I find out that the Yokohama ADVAN 680 205/50R 16" v 149 has been DISCONTINUED!!!!!!!!! What kind of dealer does that, put discontinued tires on a brand new car, not even considering what the customer might have to go through for replacement!?! A cheap one that's what kind and they want to charge me full price for a new tire that is discontinued. Jim Ellis Mazda of Marietta, Georgia SUCKS!!!! This is unbelievable for the amount I am paying for this car. I put $5,000 down and they still gave me a crummy interest rate too. Assholes. Boy am I going to spread the word about this on every complaint site I can put my fingers on!
Update from Oct 15, 2012: If a dealer puts discontinued tires on a BRAND NEW CAR, they should AT LEAST inform the purchaser AS WELL as tell them about the air conditioning condenser being at peril AT ALL TIMES! I didn't even hear anything happen and it was blamed on a "rock?"
