The 2000 Miata has one critical failure point that should be addressed as it nears 100k miles. Due to vibration (I believe), the Ignition Coil Packs can fail leaving you stranded or can cause a stall. If experienced, the vehicle should be towed immediately to somewhere it can be fixed and should not be driven further or risk of damage to the catalytic converter can occur. I did not get a quote from the dealership, but I'd estimate it at probably $500-$800 depending on how much the part sells for from them.
Only use Genuine Mazda parts and online the part cost $230 shipped. The fix is pretty straightforward to do as it involves only three bolts and removal/reinstall of the ignition wires. The trickiest part is to get the bottom bolt removed (due to lack of clearance) and supporting wires out of the way and such.
If the failure has not occurred or has not been documented in a vehicle you are purchasing, it is well worth the time and money to get addressed before it becomes a serious issue.
