- the contact owns a 2000 Mazda MPV. The contact's cigarette lighter didn't work properly, it currently was not working. The passenger door locks did not unlock without the contact manually unlocking them or using the key. There were no warning indicators for the failures. While driving 50 mph the vehicle began making a loud roaring noise, it began to shake and appeared to lose power, but never stalled. The contact restarted the vehicle and the failure recurred. The current and failure mileage were 44000.

Door lock actuator cable broken on drivers door of 2000 Mazda MPV not allowing driver to get into or our of the vehicle without the use of both hands. I feel this is unsafe and Mazda corporate is unwilling to repair unless I pay for it. Potential hazard if cable is broken during a crash and driver is unable to reach handle without both hands.

We have a 2000 Mazda MPV van. My wife said that the engine was making a loud roaring noise. I found a Mazda MPV site that indicated as "subject"-fog horn/moaning noise from engine compartment...which may occur when engine is half-warmed up or in deceleration. Site calls for iac valve with a modified part to be repaired. I asked the Mazda dealership about a possible recall. They were quick, and I mean quick to say that there are none. I mentioned that there are two other recalls documented on the consumer reports website. One about a possible failing child-lock on the door and another one that could result in a possible fuel leak and subsequent fire. How can Mazda be so quick to say that there are no recalls? they did not even ask for my vehicles VIN number. Believe me, the small cost for Mazda to correct this problem will pale in comparison to my child falling out of the vehicle due to failing child locks or to a fire caused by leaking fuel.

The driver sliding door handle came off in my hand when I was attempting to open the door of my van....this is the second time this has happened, I already had to pay $300 to fix the passenger side sliding door handle when the exact same things happened within the last year and that time I was holding my son and almost fell!!!! this is obviously a defect and I had another individual come up to me when the other side was broken w/the same color make and model vehicle and tell me the exact same thing happened to their van......there needs to be a recall on these door handles not only for the safety of many families but for the cost associated w/such a necessary part of the vehicle, thanks!!!

As a result the door can be stuck open (while driving) or be unable to be unlocked so people can't get out of the car in case of emergency. See this web site with several others having this problem: www.mpvclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?T=7161&highlight=actuator.

Complaint received E-mail. We are having problems with the front door not unlocking. We had to fix the passenger's side about a month ago. Now, the driver's side can not be opened unless using a key on the outside or hold the unlocked button on the inside. I hope we never get into a wreck because no one could get us out of the car.
