My four month old Mazda6 was running rough and not going past 35 MPH. Took it to nearest dealer hoping new car warranty will take care of it. Dealer told me that engine wiring harness is chewed by rodent and will not be covered by warranty. Filed complaint with Mazda customer service. No call or email for two weeks so I called them and they said same thing not going to cover by warranty. I found a FORBES article on line that says this is very common problem with new cars. They mixed soy based product to make wires environment friendly degradable that attracts mouse and rodents. There is class action law suits on Toyota and Honda. I emailed that areticle to Mazda and still they claims it is outside force so not covered by warranty. My car insurance policy will cover it but I have to pay my $500 deductible and I will not have my car for few weeks since they have to order this wiring harness from factory. Do not buy new Mazda until they change their soy based wires or change their engine cover design that does not leave space for rodent to get inside cover. My car was always parked in the closed garage with my 2006 Camry and it is only driven in city.
