Mazda recalled the problem with the emergency brake(recall1217F).The dealership did some cosmetic fix that did not prevent it from happening. The emergency brake when applied activated a lever when the brake is released the lever returns to it's original position. The recall was supposed to address the corrosion on the lever shaft that causes it to stick and not release the brake.

This car is not safe and Mazda has known for years. The door sash molding has caused me permanent brain damage. At age 43, I had to retire/disability due to defects Mazda knew of and just inform consumer of in 2018? I was making right hand turn, legally. Someone in lane next to me decided to turn and hit side of car. I as not injure on impact. It was the three week had to drive damage car while wait for lady's insurance to pay. The metal piece that in sspa5 status stuck out and hit head on it multiple times. My neurologist was dumfounded and could not figure out where my various horrible symptoms came from. The accident occur March 2017, Mazda has known for years, check Mazda forum. Had this fix 3 times and is falling apart on passenger side again. As far as electrical, I will be at red light or stopped and car turn off for no reason, the bluetooth which need for directions goes in and out. It is safety concern for me due to confusion symptom of brain damage. I just received in febuary 2018 safety recall 1217F on brake issue. It state Mazda concerned about safety, but again knew of issue and hat sent recall. The car has many serious manufacture defect that have caused my life to be ruin, and as I research, bodily harm to other people. Mazda, even when shown medical record and note from neurologist will not release me from my lease unless I get another Mazda, which I will never do. I am on restricted driving and need to feel safe in the car I drive. I absolutely do not. Can only imagine what safety recall will come next month. If Mazda cared about humans, these recalls would have been sent minute issue was acknowledged. The very least Mazda can do is release me from lease, but they wont. Please get me out of this deadly machine so I am not afraid of car. Thank you. I don't know how to add documents, another symptom of brain damage, memory loss,

TL-contact owns a 2015 Mazda 6..... recall notice from Mazda.... 1217F recall number..... contact called Mazda for the second time regarding recall.... recall had been issued August 19th 2017. Mazda stated parts are not available to fix recall...dealership stated vehicle needs to be inspected.... contact talked to Mazda corporate office and Mazda had set up appt to get recall fixed and dealership canceled appointment stating parts are still not available. Jun 22,2017 manufacturer recall number1217F NHTSA recall number17V-393 recall statusrecall incomplete summaryon the mechanical (cable) type parking brake, water may enter the brake actuator shaft, which is the component of rear brake caliper, may be rusted. Safety riskif the vehicle continues to be used with such condition, the rust may progress, increasing the sliding resistance of the actuator shaft. In extreme cases, the rusted actuator shaft may get stuck in the brake caliper body, causing brake dragging while driving and decreasing the parking brake holding force, which may result in unexpected movement of vehicle if parked on a slope, increasing the risk of a collision. Remedy your Mazda dealer will check the parking brake actuator shafts inside the left and right rear brake calipers. If the actuator shaft is found to be rusted, the brake caliper assembly will be replaced with a modified one. If no rust is found on the actuator shaft, the protective boot will be replaced with a modified one. The inspection and repair will be performed at no cost to you.if you have any questions regarding this program

Hand operated parking brake safety recall. I received a recall notice from Mazda stating that there is a defect in the brake caliper of Mazda6 vehicles produced from October 25, 2012 through December 1, 2014. My vehicle falls into this recall category. I received the recall notice from Mazda on August 19, 2017 making me aware of the issue and stating that replacement parts are not yet available to correct this safety issue. I called Mazda usa on November 2 to get an update and they still don't have an eta for the parts. The recall notice states that the defect could result in unexpected movement of the vehicle if parked on a slope, increasing the risk of a collision. I have asked Mazda to take the vehicle back and reimburse me. The representative made a note of this, gave me a case number and left it up to me to figure out how to resolve the issue. I'm concerned that the vehicle in its present state is at risk of causing physical harm and property damage to the surrounding area it may be parked in, especially places like san francisco, where high grade slopes are pretty common. Since this is a defect to the brake caliper I can only assume that the problem has existed ever since I purchased the vehicle.

This car has had many random computer problems starting with transmission locking in low gear until you stop the car and restart. Car shuts off displaying automatic stop break got very hard and steering very hard. My daughter had an accident last week 2/2/17 due to vehicle loss of power hard breaking and steering. Called Mazda with no response.

After making a left turn I depressed the brakes to stop for a red traffic signal. The brake pedal was excessively hard to operate and failed to stop the car. To avoid an accident, I had to use the parking break. At the same time the engine RPM increased dramatically. I shifted the transmission to neutral which brought the RPM to normal velocity. After this incident the car performed normally. I have experienced this problem three times, the last time was on April 4,2016. I noticed the failure occurs at slow speed, around 15 to 25 miles/hour. I went twice to berge Mazda in mesa, AZ. Unfortunately they were unable to duplicate the break failure during test. This predicament is still unresolved and could be the cause of a deadly accident. Some help in this matter would be appreciated.

Was following a car and came up to a stop light. I depressed brake pedal and felt some resistance but car would not stop. Felt like the brakes were being bled off by perhaps computer control. I switched into a right hand turn lane that was clear, car still not stopping. Shifted into neutral, and engine started to rev up perhaps to 4500 RPM or so, then engine went back to idle on its own. The car had stopped and I put it in park. We then turned right and cautiously proceeded home, without a further problem. Took to dealer and requested the memory be analyzed, they said they could not read the black box at the dealership. It showed no faults. Test drive was uneventful. I again requested the black box be analyzed as the brakes appeared to be bleeding off. They said they would let me know if Mazda needed anything more. My background includes auto mechanic, tow truck driver, car dealership, technician, software engineer, and analyst.
