This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
At 28,000 mi I had to replace the front brakes on my Mazda 6 sport wagon--right side at 4, left side at 1. I went to three different places--they all said the wear was incredibly uneven due to a fault with the brakes. My (no longer) Mazda dealer sil-tehar in co said the difference was within their acceptable limits. Obviously, I didn't take the car to the dealer for service. The people who did service it found a part missing--a clip that helps the pad separate from the wheel. The only people who had actually taken the brakes apart (until the replacement) was the dealer. So either they didn't put the clip back when they took them apart or the clip was missing to start--which could explain the incredibly uneven wear.
