wheel bearing gone bad, destroyed hub
I am a light driver but he the bearing was crushed and started to damage the hub while I drove like this. The wheel did not feel like it had a bearing going bad but then the wiggle of the tire started when I changed the tire one day and from there it felt worse. Soon It was interfering with the brakes engaging the wheel and I had to pumping brakes a few times before stopping. The bearing will also cause the speedometer to act eratic and you'll see the speed gauge jump around from 20 to 40. I was fortunate to find a decent mechanic who charged cheap labor about 75 an hour with 2 hours for the job. I bought the parts online because the price diffrence was 50-70 percent cheaper online. I got a decent bearing National or Timken and had to buy a wheel hub, Dorman to make this replacement happen. I felt this was worth sharing since these were the factory bearings. I am keeping an eye on the other back bearings. For now I changed out the fronts on both. The driver was more damaged and destroyed than the passenger but it was looking bad too.
