I purchased this made-in-Mexico Mazda 3 iSport from Bob Penkhus Automotive in Colorado Springs, CO. Brand new. August 2015. I'd driven it approximately 6 months when the battery died. I called them and they gave me the name of the tow company they use. Four days later I was told there was nothing wrong with the battery and they wanted me to pay the tow fee. The Mazda Rep said NO it was covered under the Mazda warranty. Penkhus would not replace the battery which had been in the vehicle for over a year without being driven before I even purchased it.
I did not have any more problems until a year later (2017) when the battery was dead, again, and I had to jump it. It happened, again, within 3-4 months. I was able to jump start the battery but barely made it into town to purchase a new battery. (By this time I no longer lived in COS). The mechanic took one look at the battery and said he could tell it was bad. I bought a new battery for $152. This month (April 2019) I again discovered my brand new battery was D-E-A-D. I had to jump start the battery to get the car to run. I drove it 80 miles since that time and it seems to be working. Luckily, I had a vehicle I could use to jump start the Mazda. I am wondering if there is an electrical problem Mazda is not telling it's consumers about.
