I have a new 2013 Mazda3 5 door 2.0L Grand Touring with now about 4000 miles on it. I'm experiencing a spongy brake pedal that when I first apply the brakes to stop the car, the brakes have a tendency to grab and stop suddenly. The sensitivity of the brake pedal has very little feel to the foot while stopping. Sometimes when applying the brakes it feels like I start the breaking and the system will pulse and take over. also making aggressive stops from 55 miles an hour, it feels like stopping with crystallized brake pads. Unfortunately it makes it very uncomfortable and uncertain every time I use the brakes.
Another issue with the brakes is while in cruise control and traveling on down hill slopes, the brakes will start pulsing to maintain set speed and the transmission appears to shift into neutral and the engine will race up to around 3000 RPM.
I am mechanically experienced with cars through the 1980s but haven't kept up with the latest car computer technology.
I know the issue I'm having with the brakes is not normal and shouldn't be considered as normal.
Can someone give me some help and direction? Thank you, DCBPM.
