I'm very angry with Mazda right now. The passenger side air bag in my son's 2012 Mazda 3 GTE spontaneously deployed while he was driving on a highway. He was lucky it was the passenger side and not the driver side. A Mazda dealership had his car for 2 weeks while he had to pay for a rental. We were told the safety module was sent to Japan for investigation. After 2 weeks he was told to come and get his car. After another week or so we called Mazda Canada to get the results. We were told they never received the module because permission was not given to remove the module. Then why the hell did they keep his car for 2 weeks????? So we had to pay another dealership $75 just  to check to see if the module was still in his car, and no it was not. So where was it? Turns out it was sitting on some guy's desk in Toronto, not in Japan and definitely not in his car. Eventually after weeks of dealing with Mazda my son was told there is no known issue with airbags. So now he has to pay over $3000 to get a new module because they can't put the old module back and he has to pay to have another air bag installed. And Mazda says this is not covered by his warranty either, and insurance says neither do they cover it, so the cost will have to come out of pocket.
