My 20 year old daughter was driving her Mazda3 yesterday when the Sunroof exploded. Nothing hit the window, she did not hit a bump in the road. Her car and herself and her friend in the car as well were covered with shards of glass. Pretty scary to be driving along and have your sunroof suddenly explode.
Car was taken to the shop to have the sunroof fixed, the auto body called this morning and says the roof and the trunk are all scratched up from the glass flying. Insurance calls and says being it is not only the glass ( we have glass coverage) and that now the roof and trunk need to be painted and repaired we will have to pay a 500.00 deductible.... I called Mazda customer service and was told that we have to prove that it was a manufacturers defect that caused the sunroof to shatter. Called the auto body and they said their is no way to determine a manufactures defect with glass. So now I am out $500.00 and Mazda refuses to accept blame for the shattering sunroof and refuses to put in a claim report.... I need advice and help with this matter...
