So I bought my Mazda 3 last year before I went off to basic to let my wife have a reliable car while I was away. She finally moved up several months ago and we were driving down the highway to drop a friend off at the airport. Halfway there the car just died, no warning or nothing. Luckily my wife pulled off the highway before she lost complete momentum. I opened the hood and could smell the clutch. We let it cool down a bit and started it again, the car would not move. Called a taxi for our friend and a tow truck for our car. Mazda told me the next day it was the clutch and it was about $1200. I asked if it was covered under my extended warranty cause there's no way we could burn a clutch in 33 000 kms. The mechanic and the manager told me it was driver error, and that in no way is it the fault of the vehicle. I said that was ridiculous, because I've been driving standard all my life, my wife is a better driver than me, and this is our first new car; the only one that has had a clutch disintegrate. Do not buy a standard mazda, the clutch is awful. Only a year! 33 000 kms and its gone. I know how to drive a standard, don't tell me it's driver error. Not a very reliable car. Had to spend all my savings, $1200, to fix it.
